Begin your journey of light, leadership, and lifelong brotherhood rooted in the proud legacy of Prince Hall Freemasonry.
For more than two and a half centuries, Prince Hall Freemasonry has stood as a beacon of light, dignity, and perseverance. Founded in 1775 when Prince Hall and fourteen other free men of African descent were initiated into a British military lodge in Boston, our tradition emerged during a time of exclusion and injustice. From those beginnings, Prince Hall Freemasonry grew into one of the oldest and most influential African American fraternal organizations in the world, producing leaders, educators, clergy, soldiers, and civic servants who strengthened their communities and advanced the cause of equality and uplift.
Today, Prince Hall Freemasonry continues to thrive across the United States and abroad under sovereign Grand Lodges, guided by the enduring principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. Rooted in values of integrity, friendship, respect, and service, we empower men of good character from all backgrounds who believe in a Supreme Being to grow in knowledge, discipline, and purpose. Our mission remains clear: to make better men — and through them, build stronger families, stronger communities, and a better society.
